Fuelled by passion and staunch belief in the online and performance based marketing, Y E Leong, an Honours Degree graduate from U.K in Manufacturing System Engineering decided to ditch her career in Engineering and went to the States to pursue business and marketing studies in 2003. After her return from the U.S., she took up a job as E-Commerce manager to set up a new e-store division at a Singapore based online retailer. After her brief stint at the company, she joined another e-commerce retailer company as the marketing and business development manager to expand its local and international online sales. During her 2-year tenure with the company, she helped the company achieve average 150%-200% A&P ROI and a whopping 400%+ ROI for a particular year festive season online advertising campaign. In 2007, Y E joined PurpleClick Media, a young Singapore based search engine marketing agency led by an ambitious SEM veteran Leonard Tan who was with Yahoo! Southeast Asia before setting up the agency, as a business manager. Within a year, Y E was appointed the executive director and had co-founded PurpleClick Media (M) Sdn Bhd in 2008. Today, PurpleClick has gained recognition as one of the industry leaders, with offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Y E is an accomplished online and search engine marketing specialist and Google Qualified Individual with over 7 years of experience in Pay-Per-Click campaign management and optimization, SEO keyword strategy consultancy, web analytics, and ROI analysis. She had been heading PurpleClick’s SEM strategy planning and optimization team in key accounts campaign management and performance optimization, including prominent advertisers such as Avis, Trendmicro, Salesforce, GreenPacket, Halal Development Corporation (HDC), etc. Y E had been invited to speak in various digital and online marketing related events, conference, and workshops in both Singapore and Malaysia before. In 2009, Y E was invited by the like-minded young entrepreneur, Lawrence Teo, Founder CEO of IS Group to develop and build the first online and offline affiliate marketing network, the Affiliate Junction (AJ) in Malaysia. She took on the role as the Chief Marketing Officer and Business Development Director within the IS Group. In 2014, YE joined Tencent to head the business development of WeChat in Malaysia. She is responsible for kick-starting WeChat’s local business development and operation in Malaysia and promoting WeChat to potential strategic and corporate partners in Malaysia via the Official Account platform and other new business ventures by Tencent in Malaysia.
